Attachments of a Report

An attachment in CDM is a file that you add to a report object. Attachments may be Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, or PDF files. Attachments provide additional information, and do not require the object to be checked out. For example, a financial manager might add a PDF file to a report object that outlines the expectations for how to create or complete the report object. Once an attachment is created, its details and comments can be updated, but the file itself cannot be modified.

Required Permission

To work with attachments, you should have the following permission allowed:

Report Permissions > Report Object Management > Manage Report Object Attachments

Attach a File to an Object

To add a new attachment to a report object:

  1. In CDM, with the report object open, click Manage Attachments in the Report Object tab in the Report Object Tools area on the ribbon.

  2. In the Manage Attachments window, click Add.
  3. In the Add object attachment window, click Browse to select a file to attach.

  4. Optionally, change the attachment name in the Name field. This does not change the file you are attaching.
  5. Optionally, enter information into the Description, Provider, Originator, Reference, and Validation Type fields.
  6. Optionally, change the date in the Date received field.
  7. If you want to include this attachment when this report object is rolled forward or cascaded to a new report, select For Rollforward.
  8. Click OK. The attachment is visible in the Manage Attachments window for the object.

View an Attachment

To open and view an attachment:

  1. With a report object open, click Manage Attachments in the Report Object tab on the ribbon.
  2. In the Manage Attachments window, click on the row for the attachment file, then click Open. The file opens in a separate window.
  3. Click OK or Cancel to close the Manage Attachments window.

Modify Attachment Properties or Comments

To edit the details of an attachment, or add or modify its comments:

  1. With a report object open, click Manage Attachments in the Report Object tab on the ribbon.
  2. In the Manage Attachments window, double-click the attachment whose details you want to edit. The Properties and Comments window opens and displays information about the attachment. Modify the properties or add comments.
  3. Click OK to save your changes. Click OK again.

Delete Attachment

To delete an attachment:

  1. With a report object open, click Manage Attachments in the Report Object tab on the ribbon.
  2. In the Manage Attachments window, click on the row for the attachment file, then click Delete. You can click the drop-down and then Delete All to delete all attachments on that object.
  3. Click Yes to confirm you would like to delete the file.
  4. Click OK to close the window.

Use Attachments

The attachments must be added, then attached to each object individually.

To view any attachments, you must have the object open and go to the Manage Attachments window.
