Update EDGAR Password

EDGAR passwords expire once a year. Follow these steps to check your password expiration date and change your password before it expires. If your password has already expired and is past the ten-day grace period, generate new EDGAR access codes if you have your passphrase, or update your passphrase if not.

Check Expiration Date

Log in to EDGAR at https://www.edgarfiling.sec.gov/ using your CIK and password. Your current password expiration date displays at the top of the page:

Credentials Required

This process requires:

  • Central Index Key (CIK)
  • CIK Confirmation Code (CCC)
  • EDGAR Password (not expired, or within the ten-day grace period)
  • Password Modification Authorization Code (PMAC)

Change Your Password

  1. Go to the EDGAR website: www.edgarfiling.sec.gov.
  2. Log in using your CIK and password.
  3. In the left panel, click Retrieve/Edit Data.

  4. Enter your CIK and CCC, then click Continue.

  5. Click Change Company Password or CCC.

  6. On the Change Company Password or CCC page, click Change Password.

  7. Complete each field, then click Change Password.
  8. Log out and back in to test your new password and confirm the new expiration date.
