Associate Aspects with a Project
Before you can insert XBRL tags into a report in CDM XBRL, you must first associate aspects with the XBRL project related to the report.
An aspect must be created before you can associate it with a project. The following types of information are aspects:
-
Time Period
Financial statements can be based on an instance in time (for example, Balance Sheet, as of December 31, 2009). Alternatively, a financial statement could be based across a duration of time (for example, Income Statement, for the period of January 1 to December 31, 2009). -
Unit
A unit specifies what the reported amount represents (for example, CAD). -
Entity Identifier
You can use an entity identifier to enter your entity identity number and scheme.
After you have created aspects, they are listed in the Aspects pane in the Project Associations tab in the work area. You can select them and associate them with a project.
To associate aspects with a project:
- Click the Home tab, then in the Navigation Pane, click Administration.
- Under XBRL, double-click Project Associations. The Project Associations tab opens in the work area.
- In the XBRL Projects pane, select the project for which you want to configure aspects.
- In the Aspects pane, expand Time Periods, then select one or more time periods you want to apply to this project and report.
Note: CDM XBRL does not allow associating duplicate time periods to the same project. Evaluate the start and end date.
- Expand Units and select one or more units to be used for the data value in this project and report.
- Expand Entities and select one or more identifiers that apply to this project and report.
- Click Save. The aspects that you selected are now associated with the project.
