The Add Taxonomy Mappings Window

You can create mappings between the elements in any two XBRL taxonomies that were added to CDM XBRL.

The Add Taxonomy Mappings window contains two columns that are used to display the elements in selected taxonomies. Use the Map from Taxonomy column to select the current (or source) taxonomy, and use the Map to Taxonomy column to select the new (or target) taxonomy. After both taxonomies are loaded, you can use the Match Type list to select how you want to perform the mapping.

These buttons and options are available for mapping selected elements:

  • Match Type
Click this button to specify the mapping method to use.
  • Preview Matching
Click this button to display the mappings automatically created after both taxonomies are loaded and a mapping method selected.
  • Map
Click this button to map the selected elements.
    • Select a single element in each taxonomy to perform a replacement mapping.
    • Select a single element in the Map from Taxonomy (source) and multiple elements in the Map to Taxonomy (target) to perform a split mapping.
    • Select multiple elements in the Map from Taxonomy (source) and a single element in the Map to Taxonomy (target) to perform a merge mapping.
  • Ignore
Click this button to set the selected element to be ignored during the mapping.
  • Clear
Click this button to remove the current manual mapping between the selected elements. Automatic mappings are not removed. If a manual mapping overrides an automatic mapping, the manual mapping is removed keeping the automatic one.
  • Clear All
Click this button to remove all manual mappings between the taxonomies.

Important: If you remove all mappings, all manually mapped elements are removed. You cannot undo this action. Proceed with caution.

  • Show Unmapped Elements Only
Select this option to display only the elements in the two taxonomies that were not already mapped.
  • Sync Scrolling
Select this option to scroll through both taxonomies at the same rate.
  • Bidirectional
Select this option to make the mapping bidirectional. For a bidirectional mapping, either side can be used as the source.
