Add a Taxonomy from a Local File
You can import a taxonomy that is on the local system into CDM XBRL.
After a taxonomy is imported, you create a project that includes the taxonomy and a report. You can then use the project to tag the report using the associated taxonomy.
To add a taxonomy from a local file:
- Click the Home tab, then in the Navigation Pane, click Administration.
- Under XBRL, double-click Taxonomies. The Taxonomies tab opens in the work area.
- Click Home > Add > Taxonomy from File. The Add Taxonomy window opens.
- Specify a name for the taxonomy.
- Specify a description for the taxonomy if you want.
- Click Add. The Select a file to attach window opens.
- Browse to the location of the taxonomy files and select all of the files that are related to that taxonomy, then click Open.
CDM XBRL selects an XSD file as the entry point for the taxonomy, indicated by a check mark in the Flags column. If there is more than one XSD file, you can specify which file is the entry point.
- If needed, select the entry point file in the list and click Set Entry Point. At least one file must be an XBRL entry point file.
- If one of the taxonomy files in the set is a formula linkbase, select that file in the list and select Mark as Formula Linkbase.
- If you want to validate the taxonomy files against EDGAR Filer Manual rules, select the EDGAR Filer Manual (EFM) checkbox. The taxonomy is automatically validated against the XBRL 2.1 and Dimensions 1.0 specifications.
- If you want to edit this taxonomy, select the Make Editable checkbox.
- Click OK. The taxonomy is validated and added.
