Unsupported Characters in Project Names

CDM 20.3.1 and later

Issue

As of CDM 20.3.1, certain characters are not allowed in the name of an XBRL project. To make sure previously created projects comply with the new requirements, Certent CDM Support can provide a script to removes the unsupported characters from projects' names and titles.

Cause

Microsoft Windows restrictions forbid the use of certain characters. Therefore, they must be removed to be able to save files without any issues.

Additional Information

There are two categories of unsupported characters:

Windows restricted characters

Other restricted characters

/ \ | * < > ? " :

# % & +

The Windows restricted characters can never be used to name a project.

The other characters can be used in the project name only if there is a valid Document Title set up in the Project Properties, which is used for the generation.

The Document Title can never contain any of the two categories of unsupported characters. At the rollforward or import of a project, none of the restricted characters can be used in the Name field.

Solution

Contact Certent CDM Support for the script to run on your CDM Database or manually remove any restricted characters from project names.
