Delete an XBRL Tag or Text Block
If you no longer need a text block or an XBRL tag from an Excel or Word object, you can use CDM XBRL to delete it.
The content of a text block item consists of one or more tags. You might want to delete only one of those tags without deleting the entire text block item. You can do this by using the Tag Inspector tab to view all tags that make up the content of the text block item and then delete tags individually.
The following procedure describes how to delete tags by deleting the items with which they are associated. Deleting an item deletes all of its tags. When deleting the last tag of an item, the item is also deleted.
If you delete an XBRL tag or text block, you cannot undo your action. Proceed with caution.
- Open the project that you want to work with.
- In the Data Tools area on the ribbon, click Pivot Grid.
- Above the Tag Inspector tab, click Pivot Grid.
Tip: To simplify your tagging work, you can pivot or filter the Pivot Grid to approximate the appearance of the data in the Excel object. For example, you can change the Pivot Grid to move columns to rows, and rows to columns. If the Pivot Grid contains extra rows or columns that are not visible in your Excel object, you can filter them so that they are no longer visible in the Pivot Grid.
- In the Pivot Grid, right-click the tag or text block, and click Delete Item.
- In the confirmation window that opens, click Yes to delete the item.
- If the report object associated with the tag is not checked out, a confirmation window opens. Click Yes to check out any associated report objects, allow the system to update them, and check them back in. The item is deleted.
