Edit XBRL Items and XBRL Tags

In CDM XBRL, you can edit XBRL items and XBRL tags.

There is a clear distinction between an XBRL item and an XBRL tag.

  • An XBRL item consists of a concept and a context. This documentation sometimes refers to an item as an XBRL fact.
  • An XBRL tag is a pointer to the location where a fact's value resides and rules on how to transform that value to be ready for submission.

This documentation refers to XBRL item properties as fact properties and tag properties as value properties.

  • Fact properties refer to the context of the XBRL item. Fact properties are units, entities, and time periods. You can view and edit XBRL items in the Pivot Grid.
  • Value properties refer to the instructions that CDM XBRL uses to transform a value and the accuracy in which it is reporting a value. Value properties are transformation sets, decimal accuracy, and negation. You can view and edit XBRL tags in the Tag Inspector tab.

You cannot change the dimensional context of an XBRL item.

Important: If you try to edit an XBRL item or XBRL tag that someone else has just deleted, your changes are not saved, and they are rolled back. If another user tries to edit the same XBRL item or XBRL tag at the same time as you, the changes of the person who saves last are the changes that are saved.
