Move and Copy Elements

You can drag elements to change their order in the Primary Items and Dimensions panes in the CDM Extension Taxonomy Editor.

You can move and copy elements within a relationship group or to a different relationship group in the same extension taxonomy.

Move an Element

You can change the location of an element. The element is added to the new location and removed from the original location,

  • To move an element to a different hierarchy level, drag the element and move it to the parent element. The element is placed as a child of the selected parent element. This action is indicated by a straight arrow icon Move Child Icon.
  • To move an element to a different spot in the hierarchy, drag the element and move it to the appropriate location. This action is indicated by a curved arrow icon Move in Hierarchy Icon.

    Tip: You can also press SHIFT and hold the mouse on the element, and drag to the new location.

To move elements across relationship groups, drag an element to a different relationship group. When you drop the element, a menu displays. Select one of the following commands:

  • Select Move Element to move an individual element.
  • Select Move Subtree to move the subtree rooted at the selected element.

Copy an Element

You can add an element in an extension taxonomy in the new location and leave the original element in the original location.

To copy an element to a different relationship group, drag the element. Then, before you drop the element, press CTRL, and select Move Element or Move Subtree from the menu that displays.
