Validate Tuple Tag Content

The tuples tag in CDM XBRL identifies any tuple data that contains tags with conflicting content. If you find conflicts, you must resolve the errors.

A tuple can be created invalid or be modified into an invalid state. For this reason it is necessary for the Tuple Explorer to provide invalid indicators for invalid tuples or tuple components. Being invalid does not prevent the tuple from being saved. However invalid tuples will cause the instance generation to fail. Some ways to make a tuple invalid are not permitted in the user interface, but there are cases where the user interface does allow the modification. For example, if a tuple has one item you can delete that item making the tuple invalid.

To validate tuple tag content:

  1. Open the project that you want to work with.
  2. Check out the report object that you want to work with.
  3. In the Data Tools area on the ribbon, click Tuple Explorer.
  4. Above the Tag Inspector tab, click Tuple Explorer.
  5. Click and expand the Instance Document in the pane. The Tuple Explorer expands to show all tags. Invalid tuples show with a red indicator with the explanation of the error.
  6. Select the tuple in the Tuple Explorer that contain conflicts and resolve the invalid tuple according to the validation error.
  7. If you do not save your work, the changes that you make will be lost when you close the workspace. An asterisk in the tag indicates that changes need to be saved.
  8. Click Save and check in the report object.
