Add Child Elements
You can add child elements in the CDM Extension Taxonomy Editor.
Add a Child Element
- Open the extension taxonomy you want to work with.
- In the Relationship Groups tab, select the Display checkbox for the relationship group.
- In the Primary Items pane, right-click the relationship group and click Check out.
- Right-click the parent element in the Primary Items pane and click Add > Child. The Search Elements window opens.
- If you are adding an extension element, enter the name of the new element in the Search field, and click New Element. The child element is added.
Add a Child Element with a Bound Label
You can use the CDM Extension Taxonomy Editor to add a child element whose label is bound to an Excel cell to the Primary Items pane.
- Open the report that you want to work with.
- Open the extension taxonomy.
- In the Relationship Groups tab, select the Display checkbox for the relationship group.
- In the Primary Items pane, right-click the relationship group and click Check out.
- Open and check out the Excel object you want to work with.
- Select the cell in the Excel object that you want to bind the element to.
- In the Primary Items pane, right-click the parent element and click Add > Child with Bound Label. The Search Elements window opens.
- The label from the previous step displays in the Search field. Click New Element. The child element is added in the Primary Items pane, and its label is bound to the Excel cell.
Add a Child Element from the Base Taxonomy
You can use the CDM Extension Taxonomy Editor to add a child element from the base taxonomy to the Primary Items pane.
- Open the extension taxonomy you want to work with.
- In the Relationship Groups tab, select the Display checkbox for the relationship group.
- In the Primary Items pane, right-click the relationship group and click Check out.
- Right-click the parent element in the Primary Items pane and click Add > Child. The Search Elements window opens.
- Enter the search string of the element in the Search field. Use the Show drop-down list to filter the search.
- Click Search. The search results display.
- Use Edit Filter to create any additional filters.
- Double-click the element. The element is added to the Primary Items pane, and the element is highlighted in blue to indicate that it is sourced from the base taxonomy.
