Replace an Element

You can replace an element in a taxonomy in the CDM Extension Taxonomy Editor.

  1. Open the extension taxonomy you want to work with.
  2. In the Primary Items or Dimensions pane, select the element that you want to replace.
  3. Right-click the element and click Check out. A Check out icon Check Out Icon displays beside the element, indicating that the element is locked and only you can change it.
  4. Right-click the element and click Replace. The Search Elements window opens.
  5. Enter an element name in the Search field. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Click New Element.
    • Click Search, select an element from the results list, and click New Element.

If the element appears more than once in the extended taxonomy, a prompt is displayed asking if you want to replace all of the elements. Click Yes or No to continue. The Partial Replacement window displays, notifying you that replacing the element might affect tags that were created with the element you are replacing.

  6. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Click Yes. The element is replaced and tags that are created with it are also replaced.
    • Click No. The element is replaced and tags that are created with it are not replaced.
    • Click Cancel. The action is canceled and the element is not replaced.

If the element replaced is from the base taxonomy, it is highlighted in blue.
