The Search Elements Window

You can use the Search Elements window in the CDM Extension Taxonomy Editor when you add a new element, or when you search for an existing element to add.

The Search Elements Window

1 - The Search Parameters pane. Use this pane to add a new element or search for an existing element.

2 - The Search Results pane. Use this pane to view the search results.

3 - The Filters pane. Use this pane to add a filter to the search results.

The Search Parameters Pane

In the Search Parameters pane of the Search Elements window, you can create an element or search for an existing element.

When you enter a value in the Search field, you can use that value to create an element by clicking the New Element button, or you can search for an existing element by clicking the Search button.

Use the Show list to filter search results. It indicates what kinds of information to search for the query text. In each search result, you can see the element that was found and the reason it was found (element name, element ID, standard label). For example, a search for ProfitLoss never matches in the standard label because this text never displays in a standard label. Likewise, searches for Profit (Loss) never match an element name or element ID (spaces).

The Search Results Pane

In the Search Results pane of the Search Elements window, you can view the results of your search.

When you perform a search in the Search Elements window, you can see the results in the Search Results pane.

If there are elements that match your search criteria, you can view the element properties by right-clicking the element in the Search Results pane and clicking Show Properties. The element properties are displayed:

  • You can scroll up or down the list to view the properties of each element.
  • Right-click and click Hide Properties to hide the element properties.
  • Right-click and click Copy Selected Item ID to copy an element ID and paste it into other locations.

If there are no elements that match your search criteria, a notification window opens.

The Filters Pane

In the Filters pane of the Search Elements window, you can add a filter to the search results.

To add a filter to search results, click the Edit Filter button.
