Edit an Extension Taxonomy
You can edit an extension taxonomy in the CDM Extension Taxonomy Editor.
- Open the extension taxonomy.
- Click Properties on the ribbon. A prompt indicates that the taxonomy will be saved.
- Click Yes. If any relationship groups are checked out, a prompt asks if you want to check them in.
- Click Yes to check in all checked out relationship groups or No to continue with relationship groups checked out. The Edit Taxonomy Wizard opens at the Taxonomy Prefix step.
- Edit the prefix of your taxonomy in the Prefix field or leave as is.
- Click Next. The Taxonomy Namespace step opens.
- Edit the URI of your company in the Company URL field. Use the Period list to select the period.
- Click Next. The Modify Taxonomy Template step opens.
- Use the Taxonomy Template list to select a new base extension.
- Click Next. The Taxonomy Relationship Group Format step opens.
- Perform one or more of the following actions.
Depending on the base extension that you selected previously, some or all of the following fields might not be editable.
- Include Type - Select this checkbox to include or exclude Type as a value in the Description Format String field.
- Include Sequence - Select this checkbox to include or exclude Sequence as a value in the Description Format String field.
- Number of Sequence Digits - Use the list to select the number of digits that represent the sequence in the Description Format String field.
Use the information in the following fields to help make your selections:
- Description Format String - Displays the structure of the Relationship Group Description based on your selections.
- Output Preview - When you click Preview, this field displays a preview of the Relationship Group Description based on your selections.
- Preview - Used to display a preview of the Relationship Group Description in the Output Preview field based on your selections for the Description Format String.
- Restore - Used to reset the Description Format String to its original values.
- Click Next. The Schema Imports step opens.
- Perform one or more of the following tasks:
- To exclude schema imports listed in the Schema Imports Used section from being used, click Remove All to remove all of the imports, or select one import and click Remove. The imports are listed in the Schema Imports Available section and are not used.
- To select schema imports for use, click Add All to use all available imports, or select one import in the Schema Imports Available section and click Add. The imports that you select are listed in the Schema Imports Used section and will be used.
- To add an external schema as an available import, enter the schema location in the Schema URI field in the Add External Schema section, then designate the schema as direct (required for taxonomy generation) or supplemental (used as a reference, is non-discoverable, and not used for taxonomy generation), and click Add. The schema is added to the Schema Imports Used section.
- Click Next. The Linkbase References step opens.
- Perform one or more of the following tasks:
- To exclude linkbase references listed in the Linkbase References Used section from being used, click Remove All to remove all of the linkbase references, or select one linkbase reference and click Remove. The linkbase references are listed in the Linkbase References Available section and are not used.
- To select linkbase references for use, click Add All to use all available linkbase references, or select one linkbase reference in the Linkbase References Available section and click Add. The linkbase references that you select are listed in the Linkbase References Used section and will be used.
Note: Using the Add All button might cause an error to occur. It is recommended if this happens to add about 5 to 10 linkbases, finish the wizard, come back to the wizard, add the next batch of 5 to 10 linkbases, and so on.
- To add an external linkbase as an available import, enter the linkbase location in the Location URI field in the Add External Linkbase section, use the drop-down list to designate the linkbase as Direct (required for taxonomy generation) or Supplemental (used as a reference, is non-discoverable, and not used for taxonomy generation), and click Add. The linkbase is added to the Linkbase References Used section.
- Click Finish.
