The Element Notes Tab
The Element Notes tab in the Extension Taxonomies pane of the CDM Extension Taxonomy Editor displays the properties of an element that has possible replacement elements identified with it (alternate elements), that are included in the definition linkbase, and has a relationship to the possible replacement element (with custom arcrole).
The Element Notes tab displays alternate elements defined in the following definition linkbase: http://xbrl.fasb.org/us-gaap/2017/elts/us-gaap-tin-def-2017-01-31.xml. The content of this linkbase includes:
- All arcs are of the arc role type: alt-concept-supersededConceptForPeriodOfAndAfterAdoption.
- The source element (in effect, from part of the arc) is the element you select and use in the Primary Items pane.
- The target element (in effect, the part of the arc) is what is displayed in the Element Notes tab.
Because they are defined in a base definition linkbase or linkbases, the properties displayed on the tab are read-only and cannot be changed.
The labels shown in the Element Notes tab are labels of the selected Alternate Element, not the selected Element. Selecting a different element in the Alternate Element Name drop-down list changes the labels on this tab.
Note: The Element Notes tab is derived from the inclusion of the Taxonomy Implementation Note in US-GAAP 2016. However, any extension taxonomy using a similar definition linkbase structure can make use of this feature.
