Add a Project
You can use CDM XBRL to associate an XBRL project with a report.
Before you can use a taxonomy to tag objects in CDM XBRL, you must first add a project for the taxonomy to be associated with. A project associates a taxonomy with a report. You can enable the project for inline XBRL generation, relational query tagging, and to use the display value of numeric content tagged in an Excel object instead of the actual value.
For an ESMA project, you can set the reporting period, the preferred entity URL, and set the preferred prefix (ticker symbol) for the entity. You can also select which languages to use for generated output. This affects the language of the taxonomy. Linkbases will use languages you select.
To add a project in CDM:
- Click the Home tab, then in the Navigation Pane, click Administration.
- Under XBRL, double-click XBRL Projects.
- Click Home > Add > Project. The Add Project window opens.
- In the Name field, specify a name for the project.
- In the Description field, specify a description for the project if you want.
- Select an existing report from the Report list.
- In the Document Title field, enter the name you want assigned to your generated document. If you leave this field empty, a default name will be automatically assigned to your generated document.
- In the Jurisdiction Settings section, choose a jurisdiction from the Jurisdiction Type drop-down list. When you select SEC, select a Form Type.
- By default, the Enable Inline XBRL Tagging checkbox is selected to enable the project for inline XBRL generation. Inline XBRL embeds XBRL instance data and metadata (using XML elements) into an HTML or XHTML document. Generating an inline XBRL project allows you to see a visual representation of the XBRL instance document while also allowing for the necessary information in it to be extracted upon submission.
- Select the Auto Create Title At Inline Generation checkbox to have a jurisdiction-specific file name automatically created for the inline generation output. If you want to give the inline generation output file a specific name, leave the checkbox cleared and enter the file name in the Title field.
- In the Taxonomy section if available, select a previously imported taxonomy from the Taxonomy list for the project.
- In the Generation Settings section,
- To enable high definition output for inline XBRL, select the Enable High Definition checkbox. HD is the default for some jurisdictions. When a project is high definition enabled, you can combine high-quality, presentation-style reports with XBRL data and, through inline XBRL generation, create one easy-to-access web experience.
- To use the display value of numeric content tagged in an Excel object instead of the actual value, select the Use Display Value For Numeric Facts in Excel checkbox. When a project is enabled to use the display value for numeric facts in Excel objects, if the content of a tagged cell is numeric and is formatted, the formatted value is used in the tag as opposed to the underlying actual value. For example, if a cell containing the number 21091861.1118 is formatted to not display any decimal points and is tagged, the tag's value will be 21091861 instead of 21091861.1118.
- If you want users of this project to be able to create or refresh tags that are made against a relational query, select the Enable Relational Query Tagging checkbox.
- To create a project for reports that will be integrated with Adobe InDesign, select the Enable Adobe InDesign Tagging Project checkbox. In the Project Path field, define a location that is accessible by the CDM application and the Adobe InDesign user. For more information, see Adobe InDesign Integration for CDM Users.
- For an SEC project, if you want to create a courtesy PDF to include with your SEC filing to EDGAR, select the Include Courtesy PDF checkbox. For more information, see Include a Courtesy PDF in an SEC Project.
Note: The generation settings differ based on your selection for Jurisdiction Type.
- When you select the ESMA or ESRS jurisdiction type, click Next to go to the Project Configuration page.
- Enter the preferred URL for the entity in the Company URL field and the company's prefix in the Short Name field. Both the company URL and prefix must not start with a number.
- Select the reporting period from the Reporting Period drop-down list.
- The taxonomy namespace is displayed in the Taxonomy Namespace field. The taxonomy namespace has a standard format (the date in the namespace must always be YYYYMMDD).
- In the Project Languages section, the primary language for the taxonomy is selected and active languages are shown.
- To add additional languages, click Add and select one or more languages from the list.
- To change the primary language, select a language and click Set As Primary.
- To remove a language, select the language and click Remove.
- Click Finish to create the project.
