Cache Manager
You can use the Cache Manager to manage and preview contents of all cached XBRL-related files that are stored in CDM XBRL.
The Cache Manager can be used in the following situations:
- If a proxy, firewall, or lack of Internet access prevents you from importing a taxonomy from a URL.
- If you want CDM XBRL to interact with files already located online before they are actually published. For example, an XBRL taxonomy author might distribute a draft taxonomy in a .zip archive file before publishing it online. You can use the Cache Manager to extract the contents of the archive file into CDM XBRL as though it were actually hosted online. Users can then start tagging against that taxonomy before it is actually published.
- If you want to save Internet bandwidth and unnecessary access to web hosts.
Note: Extension taxonomies are not typically stored in the Cache Manager.
Cached Content
The Cache Manager contains files downloaded from the Internet automatically while an XBRL task was performed or have been added manually. You can add cached content by performing the following tasks:
- Select individual files, such as schemas or linkbases.
- Include the contents of a folder that contains taxonomies that you previously downloaded and are now available locally on your computer. You might want to use this method when you acquire a set of files that you want to store in the Cache Manager, or when you want to use a cache that already exists.
- Select and extract the contents of a .zip archive file.
Important: When you include folder contents, you must also specify the domain of the location from where you retrieved the files. If the intent is to mimic the files and folders on a website, the folder structure and file and folder names in the Cache Manager must match those found on the target domain. If there is a mismatch, the files and folders might not be processed as expected.
