CDM Desktop Project Module

The Project module in the CDM desktop client serves as the gateway to working with the specified collection of documents and output files to review and comment in Certent 365. This mitigates the need to save and then email the individual documents to team members. Centralized generations reduce inconsistencies between user generations as the generation options are preserved for all team members.

The Project module organizes all documents in a project in an easy to understand way.

Prerequisite Checklist

  • Must work with Word document (Excel and PowerPoint not supported at this time)
  • Word document is converted to an HTML/XHTML output

To leverage the Certent 365 web client review and approve functionality, reports and documents need to be contained in a project. Many documents can be added to each project, but only one CDM report can be associated with each project.

Project to CDM report association is managed within the CDM desktop client via the Project module.

Note: For ease of use, a project is automatically created for every report that exists within CDM upon upgrading to this supporting version. Also, a project is automatically created for every new report creation via the Administration area, or via the Report Roll Over process.

Access to the Project module within the CDM desktop client is optional and is managed via report security within the desktop client (Administration > Security > Report Permissions). Assign users with either Owner or Member permission to enable the functionality contained within the Project module.

Project Permission

Note: For ease of use, existing report users with appropriate permissions will be provided Owner or Member permission for the Certent 365 Project Details page upon upgrade to the supported CDM version.

How It Works Together

Users log into the CDM desktop client to create, organize, build, and connect data sources to their report. Once the report is set up and documents are ready to be generated and shared with the entire team on the Certent 365 website, the user will go to the Project module to add the documents to the project. Once the document is added, the user (or any other team member) can generate the document with all its output files. For instance, for a filer they can generate their XBRL Inline document with its taxonomy files and associated Word document.

The team can review all centrally generated documents in either the Project module in the CDM desktop client by clicking on the document or in the Certent 365 website via the Documents tile.

If at anytime, a version of the document needs to be updated, any authenticated user simply leverages the Generate option in the CDM desktop client and all documents and associated output files will be updated for the team.
